The legendary city of Mombasa has been East Africa’s gate to world for centuries and is situated on an island off the coast, only 1,5 hours from the Temple Point.
The historic old-town of Mombasa is a living testament to hundreds of years of Arab influence in the region and will take you back to the time of European explorers and adventurers that first set foot here over 500 years ago.
Of course every trip to Mombasa wouldn’t be complete without visiting the incredibly well preserved ruins of the once mighty Fort Jesus. This massive fortress has been overlooking the entrance to the historic harbour ever since it was built by Portugal in 1593. It has recently been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO and as such attracts thousands of astonished visitors each year.
Our local team will be glad to take you on a tour through the city and show you the best restaurants and places to visit. Also make sure to try the homemade African chips served on the romantic terrace of the old lighthouse!
